A Weekend Recap

Hello, Friends.

How was your weekend?

We had a very uneventful one…and I’m not complaining. I took Mom to Asheville for an appointment on Friday and we stopped by our favorite antique store on the way home. I found a vintage dry sink in very good condition and at a very good price. It came home with me.

I look forward to decorating it seasonally. And the cabinets will provide some badly needed storage.

It rained most of the day on Saturday, so it was a good day to stay inside and do some decorating. I’ve decided that I am going to celebrate the USA’s semiquincentennial by decorating with patriotic décor all year long.

I started with a pencil tree that holds my White House ornaments as well as some odds and ends from Hobby Lobby. This tree will change throughout the year as I add some stitched pieces, and I’ll likely replace the existing ribbon.

Then I started on the tiered floor stand…

And moved on to the Hoosier cabinet…

This is just the bottom shelf of the Hoosier and it has already changed since I took the photo above. I'll show you more soon.

I also did some baking on Saturday and made some orange ricotta cookies. They turned out great. A ‘cake like’ cookie with an orange glaze…yum.

Here is where I found the recipe if you are interested.

Sunday was cross stitching day with my friends on zoom. I had a start and finish which I’ll show you on Friday.

Thanks for stopping by for today’s post. I hope you have a wonderful week.

See you soon,

Wow, you have a lot of patriotic items to decorate with :) I’m planning to make a quilt to celebrate the sesquicentennial and have a few r/w/b things to bring out.

Love the dry sink. I used to own one from my aunt that looked similar. It was a great place back then to hide the TV, which I loved. Pencil tree is very nice too. Wishing you a fun week ahead.

Your dry sink!! Oh so pretty. Do you drive a pickup when you go to antique stores, just in case? ;) I adore your star spangled tree, your WH ornaments are beautiful. I just saved your cookie recipe. I'm embarrassed to say that I've never baked with ricotta cheese.

The cookies look good but I must resist looking at the recipe!!! There are still cookies in the freezer left from Christmas.
You found a great piece when you discovered the dry sink. What fun to decorate it for the seasons.

I love your tree dedicated to the USA's 250th! Your ornaments are gorgeous. I had a friend when I was younger whose mother had a dry sink in her living room. It was always decorated so nicely! I'm sure you'll do the same. Thanks for the recipe!

Ooh the dry sink is gorgeous, Jeanna. Great acquisition. It was so fun to see your patriotic decorations. I may decorate a tree in the patriotic theme all year too. Thank you for the inspiration.

Nice dry sink, I wouldn’t mind having one, no room, but I’ve always liked them. Looking forward to seeing what plans you have for it. I keep my yarn with no project in a tall Amish basket, keeps me from buying new yarn it holds only so much. Faith@FarmhouseWorthy.
