Floss Friday – Time to Frog and Snowy Update

Happy Friday, my friends! And, Happy Pi Day 😊

In addition to working on an old WIP this week, I was trying to also work on a more recent one.

Ann Harper 1839 designed by Fox and Rabbit

It is stitched on 40 count linen in the color Dust Bunny, dyed by Fox and Rabbit. This was going to be my Sampler September, you can read about that here.

I typically start in the top left corner of my cross stitch projects. And when there is a border, I like to work that part first to make sure it lines up. This border has three rows to it, but I was only going to stitch one to start.

I’m glad I did because after going across the top, down the right side and almost finishing the bottom…I realized I started too close to the left edge.  I didn’t leave myself enough room for framing.

I’ll ‘frog’ what I’ve done and start over, but not any time soon! It is in “time out.”

I did make progress on the old WIP I told you about last Friday.

Here is where I started last week…

Here is where I stopped last night…

I also put in the final stitches of the small companion piece. It will be fully finished at the same time as the jar.

That is it for a cross stitch update.

We are planning to attend a Vintage Spring Market in Asheville on Saturday. It is supposed to rain but not until later in the day.

Anything exciting on your weekend agenda?

😊

Good that you discovered your edge point on Fox and Rabbit before
you got any further!! :)))Snowy stitchery is so cute...lovely work.
I will be echo quilting around my final strawberry over the weekend and watching the first weekend of F1 racing...

When I did cross stitch, I always started in the center. (I don't know why, that is just what made sense to me.)

Thank you for showing your "too close to the edge" start. I've done that before and got so discouraged I just put it away. I need to pull it back out and "frog" it! Is there a fast way to frog cross stich? It just seems so hard, maybe I'm doing it wrong.
Anyway, your Snowy mason jar is adorable!
I should make a pie for Pi Day, but I made a cherry pie a few weeks ago and we both gained weight - lol - so it will have to wait.

I adore Ann Harper and have my eye on it. I always start in upper left...don't trust myself with measuring at all so have size anxiety, LOL. It's always good to swap around projects...I could never be a serial stitcher. Meanwhile, Snowy mason jar is so cute. Happy Stitching from me!

We're getting rain this weekend too. I usually start my cross stitch in the middle. I'm not sure why. That's how I started years ago so I just kept doing it. I love the Snowy mason jar. I like working with different projects too. It's more fun that way!!

Cute snowmen in the jar! I like starting in the lower right corner. I started a little Xstitch, not making much progress on it.

I find that Fox and Rabbit sampler so lovely. Was it really done by a ten year old?

Sorry about the 'too close to the edge start'. Hope it hasn't discouraged you too much and you'll pick it up soon a again. I used to start in the middle, but hated all the counting to get there. The latest stitcheries I've done I've started with the border on the left side. The snowman jar is adorable.

I would put that piece needing frogging in time out, too! That's never fun. Meanwhile, the snow pieces are cute as can be. Have fun finishing them up!

I'm not sure about the original sampler. There wasn't any information in the chart, which is unusual.

Your "Snowy" stiiching is so cute! I hope you get new hope to start on new on the Sampler, it looks beautiful.

Oh no - frogging cross stitch takes longer than doing it! in my case usually. The snowy items are very cute.

Lovely snowy cross stitch. I hate frogging cross stitch, which is probably why I start in the center.

God bless.

Ann Harper is going to be a beauty, Jeanna. So sorry that you will have to do all of that frogging though. Will you frame your own piece when it is completed? I wish you a lovely day. Hugs.
