Plaid Farmhouse Quilt and A Recent Trip

Plaid Farmhouse Quilt designed by Stitching with the Housewives and published by It’s Sew Emma.

I shared about it in several previous posts a few years ago. I started the quilt during the summer of 2021 while we were camping.

The piecing was completed in November of that same year.

My long-armer worked her magic at some point in early 2022. Then, it was tucked away as we moved and traveled, and I got distracted by that “other” hobby 😊

Well, it is bound now. I remember wanting a chicken fence looking design for the quilting. My long-armer didn’t have one in her repertoire so we went with something else.

I took a photo outside in the hopes the quilting may show up a bit better.

This is quilt number three from the binding pile. Only six more to go!

Hubby and I recently made another whirlwind trip to Florida. This time for a medical check-up…all is well.

We most always take the back roads through South Carolina and Georgia when we go to Florida. We can avoid some of the crazy traffic on interstate.  This also provides us an opportunity to stop at one of our favorite farmstands.

They always have a fun game setup as you approach the building.

This time we bought fresh peaches.

Those peaches became a cobbler by me…

And ice cream by my sweetheart…

It’s a good thing that I am power walking 6 miles at the lake, four days a week.

I’m off to do some “cipherin’”, as my papa used to say. I’m going to look at my mid-year cross stitch stats and compare them to where I was in January. If I can get it done in time, I’ll share it in this week’s Floss Friday update.

April Wrap Up, OTX to OBX

This week almost got away from me. Work was super busy, but isn’t that always the way when you are getting ready to take vacation?

First, I want to tell you that I managed to put in 4,041 cross stitches on 3 projects during April. (Slacker Status!)

I finished the fourth chart in Snow Village by Country Cottage Needleworks.

Popsicle Cart

I made some progress on May Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives

And I finished Autumn Basket by Hands on Design. This will be the top of a biscornu.

I still need to stitch another piece of Autumn Basket for the bottom of the biscornu.

We made a quick trip to Old Town Alexandria last weekend for a wedding.  I can’t share wedding photos because I was too busy socializing and didn’t ask permission.  But I have a few to share from around town.

I love the old cobblestone streets

This old bicycle hangs in my hubby's favorite ice cream shop

I can always find a quilt square

This is town square on Friday night

Town Square becomes a fabulous Farmers' Market on Saturdays

I am writing this on Friday night (5/10), when I’m supposed to be packing for our camping trip to the Outer Banks. We leave on Sunday.  I opened the refrigerator and found a bit of buttermilk.  Well, I had to make a pie.

The crust looks horrible, but it is tasty!

We are celebrating Mother’s Day on Saturday (5/11) with my Mama, since we will be traveling on Sunday. We are taking her to lunch at Pisgah Inn up on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I’ll try to get some photos. The weather is supposed to turn rainy

I hope you have a blessed weekend and I hope to catch up over the vacation week.

I Survived! and The Green Market Comes to Work

Well, I survived the garage sale and would classify it as a success.  There were only a few items (relatively speaking) left for donating.  I intended to take pictures but honestly, I was BUSY!  The weather was beautiful and the shoppers were out in force.  There was a steady stream of cars all day.

The house is slowly returning to normal and I’m planning to spend a lot of time in my craft room this weekend.

Since I want to spend all my time sewing, I got a jump start on my food shopping today…at the office.  Yes, at the office.  Every other Friday we have a Green Market in our atrium.  Vendors come to sell their wares and it saves me a trip to the Farmer’s Market that I told you about here.

Here are a few pictures from today…

Artisan Cheeses

Lovely Orchids

A variety of other plants

Spices

Vegetables
Breads
Spreads and Dips
Greek and Italian Olive Oils
Teas
There weren’t very many vendors today but those that I use the most were there…except for the coffee lady.  My husband likes to try coffee beans from different countries around the world.  She’ll be back next time, I’m sure.

I finally got around to purchasing this…
I bought the ebook version and it’s already on my computer…just waiting for me to grab a jelly roll and get busy.
I’ll have more to share later in the weekend but for now, I have some cutting to do...a special project for my college student!
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend J
