Fat Quarters by the Dozen QAL -- Release 1 Beams Blocks

Hello, Friends!

The first quilt along of 2026 for me is underway.

Fat Quarters by the Dozen is a book published by Its Sew Emma.

Fat Quarter Shop is hosting a quilt along featuring the blocks from each of the twelve quilts in the book. You can find more information about the quilt along here.

I grabbed a fat quarter bundle from Lori Holt’s Home Town Collection to start with. I may pull fabrics from some of her other collections as needed.

Release 1 are blocks from the Beams Quilt

One thing I would like to do this year is make bonus half-square triangles as I go. Let’s see if I can keep up with this.

I was able to add three more blocks to Four Patch Fun leader / ender project. There are now 5 blocks in each colorway.

Hubby and I made a trip to Fayetteville to get my main sewing machine from its spa treatment. It is “sew” much happier now.

Next up on the list is to finish the bindings for the last two quilts in the pile.

Have a great week and I’ll see you soon.

I am really liking your leader ender project.

Yay for the safe return of your sewing machine. That’s a cleaver idea from the Fat Quarter shop to make one block from each quilt in the book as a sew-a-long. Yours is looking good and look how many HST’s you’ve accumulated already!

Sounds like a fun SAL for you, Jeanna;))) Always great to start out with new fabrics, isn't it? I am still awaiting Helga's return here so no piecing going on for a while yet. Hugs, Julierose

Haha, I have a terrible time just tossing those little extra triangle sets that a lot of patterns have you cut off. I have a lot from old projects I need to use!

Your SAL looks fun! I like that they are doing something a little different in picking a block from each of the quilts. I've done the HST thing before with surprisingly good results. Good luck with yours.

I feel guilty thinking about the amount of leftovers I've tossed over the years. I'm pretty sure I have a box or bag of bits that can be sewn together.

I do like Sew Emma books. Looks like a very do-able QAL for this year. That Beams quilt is really neat.

Look like a fun SAL I'm hoping to do one run by Pat Sloan using a Wendy Sheppard book. Love your 4 patch fun blocks.

I think I have that book. It looks like a great project. Sewing machines are so much nicer to use after their yearly spa treatment!

Pretty fabrics and what fun to do a QAL too. I hate sewing hst's so much and I don't really know why.
