Floss Friday – A Finish, WiP Progress and New Starts

Hello, my friends! Today’s post is an update on my cross-stitch progress.

Another old WiP (work in progress) is checked off the list. I finished stitching Red Bird Sampler by Brenda Gervais, With Thy Needle and Thread.

I started this project as a stitch-along for Lady Robyn’s birthday on February 15, 2022! Robyn has a flosstube and you can find her channel by clicking on the bold text above.

Here are the details…

Fabric:      36 count linen by R&R Reproductions in the color Patriot’s Brew

Threads:  I used the called-for threads which is a combination of DMC, Weeks Dye Works and Classic Colorworks

Stitch

Count:      135 w x 117 h (Size: 7.5” x 6.5”)

I continue to work on Memorial Day by Hands on Design

I finished the clothesline and stitched a bit more on the middle flag.

As a reward (ha ha) for finishing another old WiP, I’m joining two new stitch-alongs.

The first one is to stitch any chart from Heart in Hand’s Tiny Town series. I selected Honey of a Tiny Town.

It will be stitched on 25 count lugana by Lori Holt in the color Barley. My threads are a conversion by Primrose Cottage. I want this piece to coordinate with the Primrose Cottage bee pieces I previously stitched. You can see last year’s display here.

The next SAL will be a long-term project. She is a big one! It is Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow by Carriage House Samplings.

I’m stitching this one on 35 count linen by Weeks Dye Works in the color Parchment. I’ll mostly use the called-for DMC threads but with a few changes as I go along.

And that is all I have for cross-stitch this week.

We just learned that we have to go back to Florida at the end of April. I would LOVE to finish the Flea Market quilt and take it to the long-armer I’ve used in the past. She doesn’t live too far from where we are going to be. So, that is what I’ll be working on this weekend, after the farmer’s market and a hike at the Biltmore.

You know what is next…inspire me with what you have planned for the next couple of days.

See you soon!

You've made good progress on Memorial Day. The Honey of a Tiny Town is adorable! It will look great with your collection.
Can't believe it is already Friday!

What a prolific stitcher you are... I love the Tiny Towns...I have several to do...I have finished Christmas, but it's not framed or finished off. In quilt terms it would be a flimsy - is there a comparable term for cross stitches?

Hooray for finishing a long time project! Of course you should reward yourself with some new starts. The tiny town piece looks adorable! We are meeting up with our older son to celebrate his birthday today- should be an enjoyable day!

That Red Bird Sampler is on wish list. Tiny Town is adorable. Of course, new starts are in order. Love that Memorial Day piece. You choose beautiful linens for your projects...I meant to say that to you before. I follow some floss tubers who have many many new starts-mind boggling the number actually. But I learn so much from them too.

You're doing great finishing up old projects. I haven't used linen yet but hope to one of these days. I finished quilting my table runner today and will load the table topper tomorrow! I've been working on a cross stitch project for awhile and will post it soon! Have a great weekend!!
