Wendy, our friend at Sugarlane
Designs, hosted Friday Night Sew In and I’m excited to tell you that I finished,
YES…finished, a cross stitched piece.
This is Give Thanks by The
Proper Stitcher.
I shared my start on this piece a couple of weeks ago. It is stitched on 40 count linen, Chocolate Milk by Fabrics by Steph. I used mostly the called-for floss but did make a couple of substitutions.
As you know, western North
Carolina is amid recovery from Hurricane Helene. Our little town decided to go
forth with their annual Apple Festival on Saturday.
I didn’t take many photos because
we were just enjoying the moment of being with neighbors and celebrating as if
nothing had happened a few short weeks ago. So much devastation but these folks
are resilient.
We enjoyed everything from all sorts of apple delicacies to jewelry making, local honey and so much more.
So, with all that activity, I didn’t quite accomplish everything on last week’s list.
I did plan the zoom group
stitch along. It will be hosted on the GaRon Stitchery Facebook page and my
blog. More to come…
I finished Give Thanks, as
you can see above.
Unfortunately, I only
finished 2 of the 3 blocks for Scrappiness Is Happiness.

I have one more block and the sashing to cut before I can begin to assemble the top. That will be my goal for this week.

It is a good spirit in a community, to get up and do the good things that build the community. It is also important for the days when the problems come. It seems to have been a nice day. Your Give Thanks cross stitch is beautiful. I liked the fabric you have used.
I think it is wonderful that they held the apple festival. I am sure it was a pleasant change for the community to have a happy event and allow a day to forget about the devastation.
That's a really cute finish on your Give Thanks! Kudos to your town for carrying on. It looks like fun!
I saw a video last night about a Christmas tree farm that is livelihood for several families - the trees were pretty much decimated, and they are not getting much of anything from FEMA or the ag part of the government. It's all SO sad!
I think that is great that your town decided to go ahead and hold the festival, I am sure everyone needed a bit of normalcy in the midst of chaos.
Hello Jeanna, it's nice to meet you. You certainly do a lot of stitching💗, and I like the Give Thanks cross stitch. I used to do a lot of cross stitch but arthritis in my hands put an end to that.
An Apple Festival is a great idea. I think apples are the most versatile fruit and make some apple-related dessert almost every week.
Congrats on the finish!! Apple Festival looks so fun. So glad you got to go!
