FNwF and Blackbird Designs Weekend

Hi, friends.  Hope you had a nice weekend and was able to be creative in some way.

First, I must apologize to Cheryll at Gone Stitchin’ because, in my last post, I mistakenly referred to her Friday night event as Friday Night Sew In, when it is actually Friday Night with Friends! (My previous post has been corrected as well)

So…here is what I accomplished last Friday evening.

Eight of the twenty-four churn dash blocks for the Flea Market quilt by Lori Holt.  These finish at 4 1/2" and came out perfectly, compared to the 6 1/2" block I shared last time.

Then yesterday I started a new cross stitch project.

American Eagle by Blackbird Designs.

A group of cross stitcher's have designated the first weekend of each month as Blackbird Designs Weekend. March 6th will be when I pick this up again.

I’m stitching this on 32 count linen and using the called-for floss.

My project bag holding all of the supplies together is a gift I received from Ronny and Gary of GaRon Tottenbags and GaRon Stitchery.  GaRon Stitchery is an online cross stitch store.  These guys are wonderful to work with as they typically can find anything I’m looking for, if it isn’t already in their shop, and they ship FAST.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week ahead!

Lots of times I think I will cross stitch again, but I know I won't. BUT I love to see what others are doing. Maybe if I try something Halloween themed I could keep working. I might give it a try. Love YOUR stitching.
xx, Carol

I thought the Blackbird design was every weekend...lol! I do a Blackbird on Saturday's but on Sundays I have my sabbath Stitch like Lori Holt. I love your project bag! So glad to catch up with you. You get so much done and you work! I'm retired so not sure what my problem is other than old age! LOL!

I too love your projects. I was especially pleased to see the Blackbird piece in cross stitch. I stitched their Strawberry Fields Forever a few years back and I have two of their books and thought of joining the SAL. But I started my Floral Motif Sampler for a little flower in winter kind of thing. Very white here in Ontario, LOL. I will check back to keep up with your stitching!

Pretty projects, love the churn dashes - so tiny! Do you have any trouble seeing to cross stitch on the 32 count linen?

I'm so sorry I have not been by. I finally listed your blog on my blog so I can visit easily. Hopefully I will be by much more often now! LOL! I love your blocks and the fabrics you chose. Your Blackbird project is a great one. I'm doing a Blackbird too but I thought it was every Saturday so that's what I do on Saturdays. I'll leave it like that as I will finish it sooner that way. I love that bag but they didn't have one...it's a treasure! I will order from them when I need something. I'm hoping to join FNSI tonight....I hope I have it right! Love seeing your beautiful projects!

Hi Jeanna, how nice to find you! And look at those lovely blocks and cross stitching too. I have a Blackbird design to stitch next. I think it's called What Remains is Love and I plan to do it in memory of Mom. I adore that bag!

Hi! I'm new to your blog. Love your churn-dash blocks. On my bucket list to use up scraps. I admire you stitching on 32 count linen. I used to do it but now 28 is just fine for me to work on. Love Blackbird Designs as well as LHN Designs. Added you to my reading list.

Oh wow - North Carolina! We had considered relocating there as well, but after visiting in the winter decided we just didn't like the cold and snow and ice. We have good friends who spend half the year in Blowing Rock, and my sister and her hubby have a house at Beech Mountain. Now that DH is fully retired, I hope we get a chance to visit this summer!
LOVE the American Eagle cross stitch by BD! I look forward to watching your progress. I have two BD appliqué projects on my list for 2023; hope I can get at least one of them started!
