Sewcialites 3 -- Almost a Flimsy!

Happy Monday, Friends!

This is a quick post to share my progress on Sewcialites 3. After helping my Mom this weekend, I did indeed get to sit and sew for a while. I completed the last block for Sewcialits 3.

Sparks Block by Jessica Dayon.

I had to scroll back through the Fat Quarter Shop's YouTube videos to find Kimberly's episode about this block. She said blocks 24 here, and 25 were saved until the end because they were the most difficult. I didn't think Jessica's block was difficult. It was just time consuming.

Had to sit back and admire the pile of blocks.

I jumped right into making the 24 setting blocks and laid everything out on the guest bed.

I stacked the rows and labeled them.

I've sewn the rows and will begin putting them together this week. Another plan for this week is to cast on a knitting project...a hat most likely. I've joined a new book club called Hooks and Books. It is hosted by the owners of a yarn store in town. They alternate meeting locations between their shop and one of the used book stores.  This Thursday evening the meeting will be held at the book store.  We are reading to Practical Magic this month.

I bought a hard copy of the book but I'm listening on Audible. I can do that while sewing, cross-stitching or walking at the lake.

We got a lot of rain Saturday from Hurricane Isaias but nothing damaging, thank goodness. I hope if any of you were in the storm's path that you were safe and did not suffer any damage to your property. Gene, I'm especially concerned about you in Alabama! Let us know how you are doing.

That is my weekend in a nutshell. I'll be back on Friday with a cross-stitch update. In the meantime, have a great week.

Linking up with Melva Loves Scraps Sew & Tell.

See you soon,

That last block is a lovely one and your blocks look great all together on the bed. Enjoy your book - not one I have read. We have seen horrible pictures of the storm damage - glad you are safe. xx

First of all, I am fine. I was without electricity for a few hours, but other than that, no issues.
Your block and your "almost flimsy" look great.
I enjoyed reading Practical Magic. I have read several other books by Alice Hoffman also.

You must be very excited to get your Sewcialite quilt across the finish line! I forget, when did it start?

Love that light pink backgrounds on your blocks, Jeanna--so pretty!!
Glad you didn't get damage from the storm; we are still experiencing winds and had medium rains overnight, but nothing really damaging here either...thankfully...
I hope your week goes well...hugs, Julierose

Your Sewcialites blocks are so pretty! That is going to be a lovely quilt, Jeanna. That sounds like a fun book club! I haven't read that book, but now I have to go check it out. Glad you didn't get any damage from the hurricane - that must have been worrisome for people in N. Carolina.

Good to know you were not too affected by the storm. I haven't read Practical Magic and I hope to do so eventually. So many books, so little time.
Have a great week.

These blocks look so great together! This will be one gorgeous quilt! I haven't read that book but heard it's good. I'm glad the storm wasn't too bad for you. We just got about an inch of rain overnight. Not too bad!

We did get a lot of rain, GM. But we weren't complaining. Others had it much worse. I agree, so many books, sewing, cross-stitching and never enough time.

Really a stunning block! I love your layout on your design bed! The touches of taupe in there are unusual and pretty!

So your Mom is all sorted out now? So glad you (and Gene!) were OK after the storm - hope that is the last one! Your blocks layout looks great on the bed - I look forward to seeing your finish. The book club sounds like fun.

You’ve sewn some beautiful blocks... enjoy putting the top together! :-))
It’s wonderful that you have the chance to join this little knitting club—meeting at a bookstore or a yarn shop sounds like a great idea... have a wonderful time, everyone.
I’m looking forward to seeing your hat. Happy knitting!

Beautiful block, Jeanna! Love seeing all the blocks displayed and (soon) sewn together. It's a beautiful quilt. The knitting/reading club sounds like lots of fun, and such a great idea!

Your blocks are so pretty, Jeanna. And what a great idea to use the spare bed to layout the blocks. I am going try that; it will be a lot easier than the floor especially for larger quilts. Enjoy your knitting time. Hugs.
