Floss Update: A Couple of FFOs and A New Start

Happy Hump Day everyone!  (does anyone even say that any more?)

I am excited to show you one of my recent finishes.  I first shared this cross stitch piece here .  It was a Fat Quarter Shop stitch along during the month of May.

Pattern Name: Feels Like Home
Designer: Fat Quarter Shop (It’s Sew Emma)
Fabric: 25 Count Lugana, Lori Holt Fabric in Color Cloud
Stitch Count: 120w x 120h
Finished Size: 9 ½ “ x 9 ½”
Floss: 2 strands of the called for Classic Colorworks floss over two
Start date: 5/2/20 End date: 6/3/20
Current status is “FFO” (Fully Finished Object)

This is the fully finished piece…I’m in love!
I found the frame on clearance at Joann’s a while back.  The fence piece, birdhouse and ribbon are from Hobby Lobby.  I mounted the stitching on sticky board with a little batting underneath and it fit perfectly inside the frame.

The next piece is a new start and finish.  American Spirit was a chart from the Fat Quarter Shop’s quarterly stitch club.

I wanted to add to my patriotic décor and this was a quick one.
Pattern Name: American Spirit
Designer: Fat Quarter Shop (It’s Sew Emma)
Fabric: 25 Count Lugana, Zweigart in Color Vintage Country Mocha
Stitch Count: 65w x 59h
Finished Size: 5 ¼” x 4 ¾”
Floss: 2 strands of the called for DMC floss over two
Start date: 6/24/20 End date: 6/27/20
Current status is “FFO” (Fully Finished Object)

The truck wall hanging is from Hobby Lobby.  As usual, I mounted the stitching on sticky board with a little batting.  I then added a small white rick-rack trim to the back.  I glued a magnet to the truck and a washer to the back of the sticky board then topped it off with a navy check bow.

These finishing techniques have been made famous by Priscilla Blain of Stitching with the Housewives. You can find all of her creativity on her blog Priscillas.

Here is my tiered tray in our breakfast nook.

I found this tiny hutch that fits well in the small breakfast nook.

I’ll be starting one more patriotic piece today.
Liberty is another Chalk Full chart from Hands On Design and Priscilla Blain.

My new friend Sam, Farm Girl Sam, and I are stitching the pillow together.
The fabric is prepped and the thread is held together by a keep from Sampling of Memories on Etsy...

...and all secured in my patriotic Mickey Mouse bag from Denise at Dot Dot Goose Designs, you can also find her on Etsy.

This is going to be a fun -- and hopefully-- quick SAL.  Of course, I still have other WIPs that require my attention.

Hope you enjoyed my floss update.

Until next time…stay safe!

It all looks very good, Jeanna. I have a needle minder that I got from Tonya's Sewing Room on Etsy. It is nice to have the needle stay on the surface of my work without sticking it into the fabric (or my shirt, which I am prone to do.)

As you know I love your beautiful cross stitch projects. It's still niggling at me to get mine out again. I found a plaid pumpkin pattern. Geesh I hope I pinned it so I can find it again!

Your finishing techniques are very clever. The framing of It Feels Like a home is adorable. You found the perfect accents and put it together just right. The new piece your starting looks super fun with the black background. It amazes me how x-stitching has just become so popular again with such cute designs.

I have much admired the "Feels Like Home" design from Fat Quarter Shop. So glad to see your finished version. I see you have taken up doing Priscilla's methods of finishing and they are so creative. Framed pieces are nice in many repects but the more fun pieces do so well in the creative finsihing methods.

Yay!!! My blog is out of commission and it's funny because I too had a patriotic floss holder from LaDonna. I did not have a patriotic bag, however. I did start this morning and hope to work on it this evening too.
I love your finishes! The truck is darling with your xs and your little decorative touches are so cute! I bet your house is gorgeous with all your lovely finishes. Your little shelf and 3-tiered stand are precious!
I love that little flag xs and you are so good at documenting your projects. I better get busy! Google said they would get back to me in 72 hours and I have also been looking at other blog software like Wordpress etc. It looks a bit more involved...but I need a blog! So glad we are finally doing this SAL! Enjoy!

Beautiful stitches and wonderful finishes! Love the tier display too! Isn't it bliss to have so many "hand made by you" decorations to happy up the home with? :-) Awesome thread keep...I'll have to check out their shop!
