…for me to wish you a Happy 2016!
We have been very busy and I haven’t an
opportunity to be creative. Therefore, I haven’t had anything to blog
about. While I have dropped in to read a few
of my favorite blogs here and there, I missed out on so many.
We flew to Philadelphia a couple of days after
Christmas and spent just over a week at my in-laws Delaware home. They have both passed and my husband and his
sister are selling the house there as well as the one in Florida. My children always called the Delaware home “The
Christmas House” since we frequently visited during the holiday. My daughter asked if we could go back once
more before the house sold.
I will
spare you all of the details but both houses are under contract and scheduled
to close in February. Since we returned
to FL we have spent our weekends getting the FL house cleaned out and ready to
go. My husband leaves next weekend to
start on the house in Delaware. This has
been a very difficult time for him and his sister. So…prayers for them are appreciated J
We did a lot of our favorite things while up north
like visit museums, as the area is chock full of history. We ate cheesesteaks and ran around
Philly. All of those things deserve
their own blog post (another day) so I’ll skip to one of my favorite parts…
I finally had a little time to visit Loop, a yarn store
that I had been trying to get to for a couple of years.
And the folks there were super nice. They let me bring home this delicious gourmet
yarn.
They even threw in a free pattern.
But that isn’t what I am working on today. I picked up this yarn from my local yarn
store a couple of months ago. Linaza by Plymouth Yarn, 50 % Alpaca, 25% Linen and 25% Tencel.
My Slow Sunday Stitching today is making a lightweight cowl.
Summer Cowl by Amy Kudej. She kindly offers this pattern free from Ravelry. There is a photo of a finished cowl on Ravelry but I am waiting to get permission to share it.

Sorry for your family's loss--it must be difficult for you all...my prayers go out to you and yours....and it always seems that there are so many things to get done when you are grieving at the same time. Always so difficult when our parents pass on and we must pick up the pieces. I wish your family the best as you transition into the new year.
We will face the same situation in the near future so I can sympathize with you and your family.
Your yarn is lovely and I look forward to seeing it when it's done. I'm trying to get back to my stitching after losing 3 friends in 2 weeks this month. We are off to a poor start.

So much stress in getting everything settled after our parents pass. Hope all goes well. I haven't spent any time knitting this winter. I haven't knitted in ages and recently knitted some woolen mittens. Just love knitting with natural fibers. Enjoy your stitching today
Sounds like we were both traveling for Christmas! Sounds like you had a nice trip. I will be praying for your hubby and his sister. I'm sure what they're going through is very difficult. Good to hear from you! You'll have to pop over and see some of my Prague posts when you have a chance. I'm still working on them. I took so many pix and just wanted to share with everyone. I had to clean out my father's house last year when he moved into a retirement home. Lots of work but I found some treasures and it is fun talking to my dad about them. I hope they find lots of good memories as they clean out the houses. Have fun with your knitting project today.
I'm sorry to hear your family is going through such stressful times - will keep you in my thoughts and send good vibes your way! All of your yarns look yummy. I hope knitting therapy helps soothe the stresses away for you!
My husband had to do his parent's homes and I do know it is hard. You know you have to divide things up or find new homes for items not wanted. And knowing that it is probably the last time to be in that home.
Good thoughts for your family in this season of loss and change.
I'm praying for your family and that the houses sell quickly so things can settle the healing can begin.
These big transitions are hard for us all. Stitching is the best medicine :)
I can begin to imagine doing two homes. One was bad enough and it is not just the physical work. The emotional parting is even harder.
Your yarns are luscious. It is wonderful therapy.
MY prayers are with your husband and his family. It's a tough time in our lives when we have to go through this process.

It's a very hard thing to lose loved ones and then have to work on getting their homes ready to sell. I'm glad your family made a last visit to "The Christmas House" Jeanna. As sad as that is, I hope we all get to be the kind of Grandparents that make happy memories for our grandchildren. Saying a prayer for your husband and all of you!
The yarns look beautiful. I've never seen linen blended with alpaca.

Oh man you are busy girl. Hang in there with all that house stuff....my mom knits...fabulously....me on the other hand ALWAYS pull too tight every single time she has tried to teach me. However, I love that plum color and always enjoy walking through the fiber/yarn shops. :)
So sorry to hear of your family's loss Jeanna. It's not easy; one part of life's journey that we just have to get through. As someone else said, the emotional attachment is just as real and difficult to deal with as the physical. Keeping you all in my prayers.

A Happy New Year to you, my heart goes out to you squaring away two houses I had to do this several years ago and know its not an easy time. Your new yarns are so pretty it was very generous of the shop to let you take home those treats, the pattern is sweet. May you find the time to work on your summer cowl.
