This old cedar closet was in my grandparents house
long before I came along.
My Mom had it
in her house until yesterday.
She asked me
if I wanted it.
Of course! Perfect for storing quilts. I need to
research (Pinterest) some cute hangers.
How do you store quilts?

This is my collection of yarn bowls.
All made by local artists. One person made three of them. I love her work.
This will be my choice today while I take
advantage of Slow Sunday Stitching. Working on another helmet liner for
Operation: Warm & Fuzzy and watching football, of course.
Check out Kathy’s place to see what everyone else
is doing for SSS.
What are you doing today?

Your cedar closet looks amazing. I store my quilts all rolled up in a huge cabinet my husband made for me. Love those ceramic bowls. I should have thought of asking my daughter to make me one for my yarn.
That's a gorgeous cedar closet. I have some quilts on quilt racks, one over a chair, another over a chair etc. :) Then quite a few are at my son's house on kids beds and such : )
I love furniture with a family history. The yarn bowls are beautiful. Thanks for visiting my blog today. In answer the your question: I am making the TATW quilt in King size.
Love the smell of cedar closets, chests, etc. What a nice family heirloom for you!
Awesome heirloom!!!! Love those fat hangers.... bet that elimates the quilts getting a fold "seam". I display my quilts on a quilt ladder in our livingroom.
Lovely cabinet! I have no heirlooms like that - so jealous!!! I do however have a yarn bowl that was made for me by a dear friend :*)
That chest is perfect for the quilt storage! I love those yarn bowls too.
Oh Gosh!! What a wonderful blessing to receive the cedar closet!! I got a yarn bowl last winter..my first one and I love it. I love pottery and was thrilled to find it at a local artist show.
That cedar closet is great!
I have a couple of art bowls that I got years ago. I had not thought of using them for yarn or fiber but now I will see how they work for that. (Thanks!) My Sunday was spent with a matinee performance of Anything Goes. I am happy that today is an "off" day and I can get a few things done.
It is great to have a family heirloom that is functional. Glad your house is largee enough to be able to accommodate it. Never heard of yarn bowls before. There is a pottery artist in our co-op that I will be asking for one of the bowls. Thanks for sharing yours.
I've seen that bowl shape time and again at fairs and never ever knew what it was meant to be! Thanks for the new knowledge. Your cedar chest is just wonderful and holds memories as well as quilts, lucky you.
That cedar closet is gorgeous, what a great idea to store your quilts in. Awesome treasure to have passed down to you!
Your cedar cabinet is awesome. Great of your mom to pass it to you. I've never seen those bowls before, really interesting. I'll be on the look out.
My aunt had a walk through cedar closet. So fun to enter in one bedroom and come out in another. I have never seen a free standing cedar closet. I have heard that the quilts should not touch the wood. I am no authority on it.
An amazing family heirloom perfect for displaying and storing your quilt! Gorgeous yarn bowls. I admire them...waiting to find the perfect one just for me. Lime green???
Beautiful cedar closet - what a fabulous family treasure!
I love your yarn bowls too.
Ooooh, I love the cedar cabinet! And your quilts look perfect in it :) And I must say the bowls are simply fabulous. Hugs to you!
The cabinet is perfect storage for the quilts!
Great storage for your quilts--I'd love to find /get/buy some kind of storage for mine--right now they are folded on bottom of my linen closet...this reminds me: I have to take them out and unfold them and air them out...hugs, Julierose
I use an old baby changing table which will give you three shelves. I fold quilts on the bias one corner at a time making sure the edges are parallel. This avoids fold lines that are hard to remove without washing the quilt. I have also heard that quilts should not touch unfinished wood surfaces.
