Wednesday, September 3rd we celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary. It was a nice day in Rome with a full agenda.
Starting very early in the morning at the Colosseum
We then moved on to the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill
and Farnese Gardens
Temple of Venus and Roma
Arch of Constantine
One of many water fountains in the city.
I brought an Owala cup and we filled it quite often.
Surprisingly, the water was clear, cool and had absolutely
no taste at all...just refreshing.
Santa Francesca Romana
The Roman Forum was once the heart of Rome.
More ruins but much more extravagant. I am in awe
that they could build such magnificent structures back then.
Palatine Hill is the centermost of seven hills in Rome.
Domus Augustana
One of the residential palaces built on Palatine Hill
The trees in this area were huge and ancient.
Planted in the 1800s!
Farnese Gardens
Renaissance gardens on Palatine Hill
Basilica of Maxentius
Temple of Vespasian and Titus
Arch of Titus
Temple of Antoninus and Faustina
Temple of the Divine Julius
Julius Caesar's remains are buried here
Next stop, Trevi Fountain which was completed in 1762
I mentioned in Part 1 that the fountain is drained
and cleaned on Mondays.
It was full on this day.
We tossed a coin to celebrate our anniversary.
Wishing for another 32 years!
We ended the day with a celebratory dinner at
La Scala in Trastevere.
The Tiber River at night.
If you have been following along, thank you! We had so many more experiences but these are just the highlights.
Tomorrow's post will be a cross-stitch update. I hope to see you then.

Congrats on 32 years. You certainly celebrated it in style!
I am really enjoying the tour, your photos are very interesting to me. The amount of buildings and structures in Rome is just staggering. I can't fathom how all these things were built so beautifully in such ancient times. I just read a little bit about the arch of Titus and was surprised at its history and how very old it is. And the food - oh my gosh!
Was Rome always a destination for you? Did you research it a lot before you went?
I am enjoying re-visiting all of our Italian tour sites--lovely photos, Jeanna..Hugs, Julierose

Happy anniversary! What a wonderful way to celebrate! It's amazing to see all the ancient ruins and buildings. I forgot to mention when commenting on your very first Italy post that I have a photo of my mom at the Trevi fountain from way back when she and my dad visited in the 1970s. Your kids will appreciate these photos many years from now!
