More Halloween Figs Sampler Blocks and Four Patch Fun

Most of the Halloween Figs Sampler blocks are pieced. There are some flying geese and other smaller units to be sewn and added as the top is assembled. I’m still debating as to whether I will make the applique’ blocks or replace them with something else. And, one of the borders is made up of scallops. Oh fun!!

By the way, let me know if you have a favorite applique' method you can recommend, and bonus points if it is beginner friendly!

Three more Simple Star blocks were added this week…

And a Wheel Star block…

I completed one block and part of another one for my leader/ender project, Four Patch Fun.

The pile is growing.

As some of you know, my husband is quite good at finding recipes for me to bake. He suggested this cream cheese pecan pie he saw on Facebook.

It was delicious!

I couldn’t find the source anywhere except FB, so I’ll add it here in case you are interested. The Facebook account is My Sweet Kitchen.

Ingredients:

1 ea. 9-inch pie crust, unbaked

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1/3 cup powdered sugar

2 (8 oz) packages of cream cheese, softened

½ cup light brown sugar

¼ cup pure maple syrup

1-1/2 cups pecans, finely chopped

¼ teaspoon salt

Preparation:

Blind bake the pie crust according to package directions. Let cool completely while you make the filling.

In a small bowl, beat the whipping cream and powdered sugar with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.

In a separate large bowl, beat the cream cheese, brown sugar, salt and maple syrup until smooth and creamy.

Fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until combined. Gently stir in 1 cup of pecans.

Spread mixture into the cooled pie crust and top with remaining pecans. Chill until firm, for about 2 hours and up to overnight.

I hope you are having a great week!

See you soon,

The pie looks and sounds delicious. I wish I had a low carb version of that recipe.
My favorite applique is fusible using Mistyfuse. But I quilt my own quilts so I always use the quilting to keep those pieces well secured.

I use the prepared applique method using spray starch to pre-turn the edges over a file folder template--then just stitch them on...needleturn makes me anxious so I use this albeit slower method but one that I find easier...
Your Halloween Figs blocks look so good--nice work...

Love your Halloween Figs blocks. Those scallops are pretty, wonder if they are hard to make. The four patch blocks are so pretty. OMG on the pie - thank you for the recipe!

Those blocks are all so pretty and love the colors, too! I'll enjoy seeing how you put all the blocks together. I'm pretty much a beginner when it comes to applique, too - keep us posted on what method you try. And yummy pie!
