Happy Sunday Before Thanksgiving

Can you believe Thanksgiving is this Thursday?  And…it is also my birthday.  They sure seem to come faster these days.

Life has been so busy lately and while I have been doing some sewing, I can’t share yet as the projects are gifts.

I wanted to show you my finished Buttermilk Basin October Banner.  This was a fun and fast little project.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A dear friend retired last month and she is going to spend more time gardening.  I remembered I have Anita Goodesigns Prayer Garden embroidery and made her this little quilt.  I put a pocket on the back so she can display it on her table top quilt stand.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Below is a photo of my very first sewing machine.

My daughter bought a new backpack for school and the strap broke.  Of course the period for returns had passed and the store did not have another one like it for an exchange.  Neither my Brother nor the little Pfaff wanted anything to do with the repair so I took out Old Faithful.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is an overcast drizzly day in south Florida so we are just relaxing and watching football.  I’ll start the embroidery machine soon to stitch out some samples for a friend who wants to put her grandson’s name on an apron she bought for him.  They own a restaurant and she wants to give him his own apron for Christmas.  Cute idea.
I hope you have a great week ahead. Also hoping to check in with you before Thursday.
Oh! I love your Buttermilk Basis block! So fun! The quilt you made for your friend is just precious -- I love your embroidered blocks. My first machine was a Kenmore and like you, I pull it out when I need a workhorse!! Hope you and yours have a marvelous Thanksgiving! :)
A happy Thanksgiving to you.I love the embroidered quilt. I, too, still have my first sewing machine and it still is a workhorse when I need to do something like that.
Cute Buttermilk Basin & embroidery project! There's nothing like having an Old Faithful to pull through when needed!
The spider hanger on your wool piece is cute, cute.
I have heard many people say how they turn to an older workhorse sewing machine for things just like you had to repair. About 47 years ago, I was making doll clothes and selling them. I wore out a sewing machine. The repairman told me I needed a machine that was less delicate and that was before all the electronic bells and whistles we have nowadays.
Happy Thanksgiving!! AND Happy Birthday. This will be a busy week for you. I love the apron gift your friend is giving. Very cool thought. I was fixing tote bag handles myself this weekend. We are lucky that we know how to do this stuff and our family thinks we are amazing!! Your quilt gift for your retiring friend is a perfect gift. If she's like me, she'll always remember the date that she retired and never look back!!
xx, Carol
Cute BB Banner and your friend is going to love that gardening quilt! It seems most stuff that is bought today needs a bit of touch-up... everything is manufactured so quick and cheap. Good thing ol' reliable was easy to get to! :-) Wishing you a Happy Birthday and a FULL Thanksgiving!
Happy Birthday! (Mine was on the 13th) Yay for Nov. birthdays. Love your projects. See that is why we need more that one sewing machine, because they each do something that another one can't.
