White-on-white
seashell background and the Navy Mini Anchors border fabric is from Timeless Treasures Fabrics of SoHo. The yellow sashing fabric is Artisan Spirit Shimmer by Deborah Edwards of Northcott.
The
embroidery designs are from Anita Goodesign’s Nautical collection. You can see a close up of the individual
blocks here.
Some
blocks stitched out beautifully…
Some
proved to be a challenge… do you see the issue with the compass? (Don't worry, I found a work around)
There
was some “un” sewing
Then
I had to prove that those titanium needles WILL
break!
My
friend worked her quilting magic.
Small
stippling around the embroidery designs with wavy swirls in the sashing
Stars
and “USA” in the navy border
Would
I do it again??????
For
my Sailor…ABSOLUTELY!
The Quilt Label
After
all of that, I never got a picture of him and the quilt. I delivered it to him when we went to San
Diego in May.

What a great Mom! That will be like a piece of home on his bunk. Awesome!
I just love it Jeanna! I know your sone will feel like he's getting a hug from you everytime he wraps up in it...:) Would you mind telling me what size the quilt is overall and the squares. I think that size would be perfect for my daughter's quilt. Of course, hers won't be nearly as professional looking but I hope that it will bring her comfort when she is homesick and missing us...:) Thanks and have a happy Wednesday!
This is such a wonderful gift for your son. Life as a sailor can be hard at times especially during deployment.
Beautiful and fantastic quilt made with so much love and pride!
That turned out so nicely. The photos were great, except for the broken needle one! OUCH.
Your son's quilt is fantastic! What a wonderful gift of love he can wrap up in far from home. You did a beautiful job, I'm curious about the scallop edge tot hose white blocks, do tell me how you achieved that.
Gorgeous quilt lovingly made for your son!
What a perfect dedication Quilt.
I thank him for his service to our country!
My comment was eaten! I'm sure even the trip to the ER was worth it. :o) Such a special quilt and handmade from the heart. No doubt he'll feel close to home each time he settles down for the evening.
The quilt is wonderful! Were they able to get the needle out of your finger? Ouch!
