Continuing from yesterday's post, here is a recap of another day in Rome.
Tuesday, September 2nd
Most of this day was spent in Vatican City

The Holy Door which is open only during Jubilee.
2025 is a Jubilee year.
Our private tour took us by elevator to inside the dome where we could
look down into the basilica.
After walking around the inside of the dome, we
climbed the additional 330 steps to the very top
of St. Peter's Dome.
Some places were very narrow and steep.
We made it! It was raining but we still had
great views of Rome from the top.

After the climb we descended and entered St. Peter's
Basilica through the Holy Door.
I took so many photos inside the basilica but can't possibly
share them all here.

Situated directly under the dome and above St. Peter's
tomb underneath.
After spending a couple of hours walking around the inside,
we were taken down into the tombs.
Before leaving, I had to mail postcards from
Vatican City.
It will be interesting to see how long it takes for them to arrive
the US, if ever.
We hope to tour the Vatican Museum on a future visit.
We mostly walked everywhere we went.
We were hungry so after exiting Vatican City,
we had a nice lunch at a place near our hotel.
We spent the remainder of the day exploring
Palazzo Farnese and other parts of the city.

Now you understand why I said in the previous post that I did very little stitching. We were on the go constantly but it was exhilarating.
