17 UFOs in 2017

Good day, my friends.  As I mentioned yesterday, I am on mission to bust some UFOs in 2017.  Not only am I participating in Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal, I am also joining Meredithe’s 17 UFOs in 2017 Challenge at pomegranate and chintz.

The reason I love this challenge is because the participants are encouraged to at least make PROGRESS on their projects…no pressure to FINISH.  In my opinion, if you are making progress then a finish is inevitable.  Unless you fall out of love with the project.  I have one of those UFOs that I am not sure I love enough to keep it going…we shall see.

Here is my list for the entire year:

1.
Mini Valentine Quilt (also my January OMG)
2.
Butterfly Trails Label (I don’t think quilts are complete until they are labeled…why do I have such an issue with this?)
3.
Willow Weave Label
4.
Deck-Ade the Halls Label
5.
Building Blocks – finish knitting and assemble into an afghan
6.
Birdie Stitches – stitch in the ditch and make each block a mini quilt to be displayed monthly
7.
Summer Table Runner – quilt and bind
8.
Farm Girl Vintage Blocks – finish all blocks then decide which ones go into a quilt and which will be potholders J
9.
Swilly Scarf – knitting
10.
Asanagi Wrap – knitting
11.
2009 (yep, it’s that old) Saturday Sampler
12.
2016 Row by Row – doing this one before finishing 2015 because I love the Home Sweet Home theme
13.
2015 Row by Row
14.
2009 (what was it about that year?) – Thimbleberries 3s Company Quilt
15.
Sewing Machine Cover – I don’t love piping!
16.
Halloween Baltimore Quilt – I’m not sure I love this one…it may get donated
17.
Christmas Stockings – I machine embroidered names on the cuffs but now I want to add embroidery to the boots

My January nominees for 17 UFOs in 2017 are:

    ~~~ Mini Valentine Quilt~~~
        ~~~All Quilt Labels~~~

 Deck-Ade the Halls

    Butterfly Trails

        Willow Weave

~~~Building Blocks - numbers 5, 6 and 7  ~~~
Just because I am busting UFOs this year doesn’t mean I won’t start something new… I’m sure that I will but the UFOs take priority.
Are you joining any challenges, BOMs or other sew-alongs this year?  If so, let me know and I’ll follow your progress.  We can encourage each other!
Enjoy your day J
Nice list. I'm only joining the OMG over at Elm Street Quilts. Trying to keep it simple and knock off projects asap.
You have quite a list there; I can understand, though, being distracted by sock knitting--I am doing a long term shawl (Yowza)m that keeps on calling my name...so meditative and relaxing while wtaching tv at night...hugs, Julierose
It's a wonderful list and plan, Jeanna. It will be great to see how we all progress and what we can, hopefully, cross of the list!
Hi Jeanna, I love the name of your blog as it reminds me of long hot childhood summers with my parents yelling "shut the screen door, you're letting the flies in!" I've joined the 17 UFOs in 2017 challenge too, good luck!
Jeanna I have Ufo's to bust every year, but the call of a new project always seems to win. I have hundreds of things I have started, some just a block or all the blocks that need piecing into a top, then tops that need quilting, etc... I may end up having some quilts quilted by a long arm quilter just to get them done. Nothing is larger than a lap size, but I need to be in the mood to work on the quilting part. Hope you do well with your goals. I think I will allow myself a new project start if I finish 2 or 3 things first. We'll see how that works!
You can do it! I have a couple of crochet projects I plan to call DONE very soon. I counted recently that I have I believe 7 (unless I miscounted) UFO quilt projects. Maybe 2017 will be a more productive year for me that this past year.
It's hard to resist the siren call of new projects, isn't it? I am trying to strike a balance with my WIPs but it is a challenge!
Quite an ambitious (but very doable) list! They are all great projects... so difficult to choose which one first?
You have a nice line up of UFO projects to get 2017 rolling along, a little progress here and there can go a long way as the year progresses. I have a few projects I fell out of love with some I have deconstructed and used for other projects.
