Val's Third Annual Piggy Bank Challenge

Val at Val’s Quilting Studio is hosting a fun little challenge.  This is her 3rd Annual Piggy Bank Challenge.

It’s really pretty simple.  You collect loose change for the next year, add up the savings and next July 6th share your quilty purchase or what you plan to purchase.

Click here to read how the challenge started and how Val and her husband have turned it into a little contest.

Since I am on a stash busting mission this year, I expect I'll need to replenish the fabric bins next year.  That is why I have decided to join Val's fun, to have some extra cash for the future stash.

I searched the house this morning looking for my “piggy bank” and come up with this

It is one of two jars that I used to store snacks in for the kids.  The kids grew up and one jar turned into a scrap catcher for my cutting table.

I emptied the coins from my wallet and one other small change jar that was sitting around so I am now on my way.

Won’t you join in and see how much you can save?  If you do, click over to Val’s and sign up.  Hopefully, we will be cha chinging next summer J

Farm Girl Fridays - Week #11

Happy Friday Friends J

I am still having fun sewing along with Lori Holt and so many others in the Farm Girl Fridays Sew Along.

Week 11 brings us….

Grandma’s Quilt Block

And….

Haystack Block

This week’s blocks are super simple but not my favorites, mainly due to my fabric selections.  I have mentioned before that scrappy is not natural to me.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Wooly Firecrackers and Happy 4th!

Celebrating our nation’s birthday with another small finish.

Bareroots Little Stitches - #144 Firecrackers Candle Mat

I purchased the kit from The Village Mercantile booth at our local quilt show in February last year, yes, 2014.  This post is a recap of some of my purchases.

This project is very different for me as it is a bit prim and wool felt instead of cotton.  I had a blast with these little beads.  No…really, I did.  I found stitching them on to be fun and relaxing.

This finish allows me to check-off an item on my "To Do" list that was created here.  I have other updates to my lists that I need to organize and share with you...another time.

To all of my friends here in the good ol'
United States of America
I wish you a happy and safe July 4th!!

Farm Girl Fridays – Week #10

Click over to Bee in My Bonnet for more cute ideas.

Here are my blocks for this week.

Furrows Block

Gingham Block

Not sure the name applies to my gingham block considering the fabric selections…but this is what appealed to me at the time.

There are some adorable blocks in blogland.  So fun to see the different fabrics people choose.

Are you sewing along with us?

Happy Weekend!
