Three Little Pillows and The Orchid Room

My daughter’s quilt is STILL at the long armer’s waiting (since the beginning of October) for the magic.  I expected to have it back either January or February but, as it goes when you use someone who is great at their craft, it is still waiting its turn.  In addition to the quilt, she also has three 18” pillow shams.

DD's Quilt

This weekend I decided to make her throw pillows that will sit in front of each sham.  The weather was gorgeous yesterday so I took the pillows to our local botanical garden to be photographed.

I used the embroidery unit to my Quattro 3 to make the center blocks

While we were there, we walked through The Orchid Room which is proof that orchids grow like weeds in south Florida.

A pretty fountain at the entrance of the gardens

What's a pond without ducks?  My DH thinks these are two female Mallards.
He's pretty good with his wildlife ;)

Then of course, the resident dragon!

I still have a lot of projects on my list to complete but I am slowly chipping away at it.

I know I promised pics from the recent quilt show but after going through them, I've determined they really aren't blog worthy.  Part of the problem was the cramped quarters.  I couldn't get enough distance between me and most of the quilts to fully capture their beauty. Another part of it is that my camera battery is dying and the biggest part...well, let's be honest, I'm not a photographer.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have an absolutely wonderful week!

Wow - what a gorgeous quilt! I'm sure it will be transformed even more when it's back from the quilter! What an incredible orchid "room", Jeanna! I bet the smells were out of this world, too. Your hubby is right about the female mallards. The males are very brightly colored and the females like to blend with nature so they can protect their babies.
Cheers!

Jeanna the pillows are lovely. I'm sure they will just set things off once you have the quilt back and "get it all together". I'm sure you are anxious to see the quilt finished! I bet that Orchid Garden is something else! Sounds like my kind of place. I'd love to see it.. We still have lots of snow and another big storm coming Wed. night with 8-12 inches of snow predicted. UGHHH!

Ahhh the botanical gardens, I have been there two years ago! It was really impressive ( and hot ) and I took thousands of pictures of the flowers, ha ha!
Thank you for reminding me of its beauty!

It's a beautiful quilt and I love the word 'shams'! Are they what we would call pillow cases here in the uk? 'Sham' is a much better word.

What do you mean, you aren't a photographer? The pics at the Botanical Garden are great! I love how you took your pillows there for photography.

Lovely pillows to go with that wonderful quilt! Nice photo...you can take good pics! Shows can be hard places to take pics indeed.

I just love the two color combo and the aqua and white are so refreshing. I think many long arm quilters over commit themselves. Your post made me feel Spring is really coming. I'm always amazed at how delicate orchids look but how hardy they can be.
